James "Jimmy" Tandy Sparks, 85, of Young, died April 11, 2004. He was born to a pioneer family, Jan. 2, 1919 in Young, Arizona.
Mr. Sparks spent most of his life in or around Young, except for a short while in other states.
His early years were spent as a cowboy, herding cattle on the Flying W, and Bill Lee's ranch on Cherry Creek. He also worked for the sheriff's department in Globe, and for the senior citizens program for the Forest Service. He loved animals and the great outdoors. His later years were spent camping in the White Mountains in the summer and Quartzsite in the winter.
He is survived by his wife Mary; one sister, Beth Beedle of Young, four children in Globe -- three daughters, Norine Barnett, Corrine Bidegain, Jaime Boehm; one son, Bruce Hayes, and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 15 at the Baptist Church in Young.
