Door Stop owner Jim Hill, right, explains how his cabinet-making company operates during an open house, which attracted more than 1,000 visitors Saturday.

More than 1,000 area residents took advantage of open doors this weekend at The Door Stop cabinet-making company in Payson's Sky Park industrial complex.

Door Stop owner Jim Hill allowed visitors to tour his facility and see just what his operation is all about.

"We were really pleased with the turnout," Hill said. "It was an opportunity for people to come and see what we do and judge for them selves if this is a good thing for Payson."

Some airport-area residents have expressed concern about the noise levels coming from the Door Stop facility near the Payson Airport.

Hill said the open house was the best way for people to judge for themselves if the noise was really a factor.

Visitors to the open house enjoyed free refreshments, giveaways and musical entertainment provided by the Rim Country Middle School Jazz band.
