Ruth Joan (Brumage) Tolsma, 62 of Payson, died April 17, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix. She was born July 23, 1941 in Denver, Colo.
The majority of her professional life was in dentistry as a dental assistant but, whatever her job, she enjoyed working with people the most. She was born in Colorado, but grew up in Casa Grande. After graduation from high school, she moved back to Colorado where she met her husband and raised her family.
The Tolsmas returned to Arizona in 1990, living in Payson. After retirement, they became foster parents, providing numerous children with a safe home. She also loved the Denver Broncos. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dudley Tolsma of Payson; son, Kenneth (Jo) Tolsma of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Dawndra (Monique) Tolsma of Victoria, Canada; and sister, Bonnie (Gary) Etzler of California.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at First Southern Baptist Church, 302 S. Ash, Payson, Arizona.
