The mystery is over concerning the man who won the Easter Bonnet Contest. Peggy Milburn called to report that the man in the jelly bean bonnet was her son-in-law, Steve Ketelhut. He did a great job on it and it looked good enough to eat.

The 69th Birthday Bash for Wilene Byrne and Sally Mystrom turned into a birthday party for around 50 people. Everyone got to hear Wilene sing "Whiskey River" and "Bill Bailey." Al and Deloris Dale and C J Petty played all the old-time music, and Lee J. Milan brought along his guitar and got to sit in on a couple of songs. There was a lot of singing and dancing along with some old-time memories.

This Saturday is Kids Kleen-Up the Kreek Day. Have your children at the walking bridge on Apple Lane at 10 a.m. They will be given a T-shirt and some garbage bags. They will be put into groups with some adult supervision and head out to clean-up around the community. After their hard work at noon, there will be a weenie roast for all the hard workers. Come out and support the children or just stop in for a hot dog and a soda to show your appreciation.

Saturday, May 15 is the Eighth Annual Rusty Cooper Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. It will be at Pine Meadows Golf course in Overgaard. This golf tournament will once again benefit Payson High School seniors in the form of one or more scholarships in memory of Rusty Cooper.

Classic cars

Do you like to look at classic cars? Then you are going to want to make a trip to Christopher Creek next month. Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to noon, there will be around 50 beautiful cars lined up throughout the community of Christopher Creek for the Christopher Creek Classic Car Show. There also will be arts and crafts. If you have some crafts to sell call Debbie Aschbrennar at (928) 478-4519 or Susan Keown at (928) 478-4221. There is still some space available. This is a nonprofit event with proceeds going to the Christopher/Kohl's Fire Department.

Roland and Diane Davis of Hunter Creek are proud grandparents. Their son Jeff and his wife Kelly have a new baby boy, Ryan, born April 9. This makes the second grandson. Ryan has a 3-year-old brother, Rob.

Mark your calendars for June 23, 24 and 25 for the Christopher Creek musical melodrama, "The Pleasant Sally War" or to the "Last Man/Woman Performances" will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Christopher Creek. Admission is free, although you will need a ticket. Tickets will be available starting May 1 and you can call me at (928) 478-4519 to get one. This is going to be funny and you just might be surprised to see how talented your neighbors are.
