Parking Lot Sale Takes Over Pine-Strawberry



This Saturday, April 24 is the fifth annual Pine Merchants Parking Lot Sale.

Donations to the Pine Strawberry Food Bank will be accepted at all participating locations.


The annual Pine Merchants Parking Lot Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow (April 24). Participating businesses will be well marked along Hardscrabble Road and Highway 87.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Take a walking trip along Hardscrabble and Highway 87.

Participating shops and galleries will be well marked.

OneBookAZ Pine/Strawberry group met Tuesday to discuss "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. This book is being read, followed by discussion groups, throughout the state. Carol Scott led this local group and provided insight into the author's plan, diagramed the allegory behind the story and brought up amazing background information. Although some loved the book and others did not, it is well written and shows an incredible imagination. Watch for the next OneBookAZ.
An incredible fund-raising effort, benefiting Gila Community College, Payson Campus, and all of us in Northern Gila County, culminated in an amazing musical program Sunday, April 18. The college now has a beautiful grand piano. All of us will benefit. Summer music programs for children, performances, concerts, music classes and recitals will now be possible. Thank you, Anne, and your many helpers for your hard work and determination for this very worthwhile project.

Children's Story Time at Looking Glass Books and Gifts will be Saturday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. The book selection and craft project will have a spring theme. Call (928) 476-4771 for more information about this and other activities.

You will not want to miss Barbara Bourscheidt's presentation on Xeriscape gardening at the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library Friend's meeting at 1 p.m., Monday, April 26. Everyone is welcome and guests are invited to stay for the meeting which will follow the program. Bourscheidt writes a regular gardening column for the Payson Roundup. The Strawberry Festival Committee is once again sponsoring a poster contest in conjunction with this year's event. All artists are encouraged to design a poster and the winning entry will be used as the promotional poster. All entries will be on display at the festival. Copies of the winning poster will be available for sale and the artist will be invited to autograph copies for the buyers.he deadline for entries is May 17.
