The stylists at the Smart Style Family Hair Salon in the Payson Wal-Mart are taking part in a special campaign to help children who have lost their hair.
The Locks of Love program asks members of the public to give up 10 inches or more of their hair to be used in wigs for children who have lost their hair due to disease, illness or their treatment.
Victoria Erway, one of the stylists at Smart Style, said all people need to do is go to one of three different websites and download a coupon, fill it out and bring it into them. The coupon makes the haircut free, provided the cut results in 10 inches to donate. The Locks of Love haircut coupon can be found on the websites for Locks of Love (locksoflove.org), Matrix hair care products (matrix.com), and the one for Oprah Winfrey (oprah.com), Erway said.
"This is the first time we have participated in this campaign, but every October we take part in the Clip for the Cure cancer project," Erway said. "It's a great way to help."
The campaign started earlier this month and continues through June 1, 2004, Erway said.
The Smart Style Family Hair Salon is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
