New Road Part Of Casino Expansion Project

A lot of earth has been moved on the grounds of the Tonto Apache Tribe's reservation near the Mazatzal Casino.

Now Tribal Council members and Jim Gannarelli, chief executive officer of the casino, are getting in on it.

The council members, from left, Lanell Hooke, Shawn Morgan, Chairman Ivan Smith, with Gannarelli, Louise Lopez and Vice Chairman David K. Davis, broke ground for a new road on the reservation Aug. 17.

The road is part of the first phase of the casino expansion project, which is expected to be completed sometime in 2005, according to Chairman Smith.
