Kimberly Rocca has room for a dozen students at Kimberly's Studio. The piano teacher is now accepting clients who are either new to the instrument or have intermediate-level skills.

As a new teacher to the community, she said she hopes to offer "cost effective" lessons for parents who want for their children to learn music.

Kimberly Rocca is offering piano lessons for those 5 and older at the Payson First Assembly of God Church. She specializes working with timid and shy students -- "I was one myself," she said.

Lessons consist of a half-hour of private instruction each week, coupled with a recital at the end of the semester for experience in performance.

"I have a gentle teaching approach," Rocca said. "I'm great for the timid or shy students -- I was one myself. I emphasize technique, theory and prepare students for a recital each semester."

She will instruct students from the age of 5 on up.

"My hours are flexible, but I try to keep lessons on Thursdays," she said. Rocca is currently working with three students, but can generally handle 15.

Rocca has owned and operated her own instruction practice since 1988 in several communities. She is experienced not only as a piano instructor, but as a choir director for both churches and private schools, and as a voice instructor.

She has been a church pianist since the age of 12 and currently serves as the piano player and worship leader for the Payson First Assembly of God Church, where her husband, Rob, is the minister. She also has served as a kindergarten teacher at Christian schools.

Rocca studied with private instructors in piano, voice and violin and sang in the Hartford Youth Chorale in Hartford, Conn. She also studied with concert pianist Andrezje Anweiler at the Hartford Conservatory of Music.

"I really enjoy teaching," Rocca said.

"Music has enriched my life and it's a joy to see it enrich others. It's really fun and I try to keep it exciting."

Lessons are conducted at the Payson First Assembly of God Church, 1100 W. Lake Drive. For more information, call (928) 474-2189.
