Recently the Town of Payson concluded its first Citizens Leadership Academy, graduating a class of 28.
As two people who were fortunate enough to be included, we want to thank Mayor Brewer and the Town Council for authorizing this new program.
A special thanks also to Town Manager Fred Carpenter and the various department heads and their associates who made this program so rewarding.
The academy was comprised of eight two-to-three hour sessions on weekday evenings with one Saturday daytime session (a tour of facilities).
It appears that the town will repeat this program next year, gathering the names of interested candidates in the spring and commencing the program in September.
For anyone interested either in public service or a deeper understanding of the many facets of the town's activities, we believe this program serves as a wonderful and useful introduction.
