Superintendent Looks Forward To Active Retirement

Editor:

My family has lived in Gila County for more than 80 years, coming from Mexico and the state of New Mexico before settling in the Globe area. I have fond memories of growing up in a booming post-war economy, a community with a culturally diverse ethnic population, and a large, loving extended family. These factors and events shaped my personal and professional life.

My teaching career commenced working for Globe Unified School District. I was appointed as Gila County School Superintendent on March 1, 1988. My goal and mission of creating Gila Education Service Agency is a reality. This vibrant, efficient, and effective program is dedicated to the delivery of education services to school districts through professional development training. The program is for educators who impact learners, be they children or adults. I am extremely proud of the many successful programs initiated during my tenure in office and thank all who have made GESA the success it is.

It has been a joy and privilege to serve the citizens of Gila County as a teacher and as Gila County Superintendent of Schools. I now look forward to an active retirement. Thank you for your prayers, support, trust and friendship.

Armida G. Bittner, Gila County School Superintendent
