I am writing to share two incidents that recently occurred here in town which make me proud to say I'm a resident of Payson, Ariz.
While at the bank, I watched as a visibly upset gentleman approached the teller. He stated that while using the ATM machine earlier, he had neglected to remove his bank card. He wondered if there was any chance that someone had turned it in. After learning his name, the teller was happy to return the card to him. A current resident of another state, he exclaimed, "Thank you, God! Only in Payson could such a thing happen!"
Several days later, I arrived home to discover that my cell phone had apparently come loose and fallen somewhere in the Wal-Mart parking lot. After telephoning, I learned that, yes, my cell phone had been found and turned in at customer service! What a blessing.
No doubt, these types of incidents happen frequently, but most people never hear about them. That's why I want to say thank you to all you honest, responsible folks out there. I think we can all be grateful for the chance to live in a community where these events are considered "the norm."
