Howard Halsey Heltzel, 84, of Gisela, died Dec. 24, 2004. He was born Oct. 3, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio.
Mr. Heltzel was a World War II veteran.
He was an auto mechanic for half of his life, then retired from the Arizona Department of Transportation as its senior draftsman.
Mr. Heltzel was a resident of Gisela for 18 years. He loved hunting, fishing, target shooting, camping, and the outdoors. He was a man of great faith in Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his son, John Edward Heltzel of Phoenix; sisters, Margaret Elias and Emma Jean Bishop, both of Phoenix; brother, George Heltzel of Peoria; and grandchildren, Daniel, Brandon and Philip Heltzel, all of Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tom Howard Heltzel; sister, Mary Emily; and brother, Ray Heltzel, Jr.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Tonto Valley Bible Church in Gisela.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix.
