Loren Duane Long, 64, of Tonto Village, died Dec. 24, 2004. He was born in St. Paul, Minn. His family moved to Phoenix when he was 4 years old.
After joining the military at 17, Mr. Long returned to Phoenix and joined the Phoenix Fire Department. After retiring from the Phoenix Fire Department, he moved to Tonto Village.
Mr. Long was the "go-to-guy" and helped anyone who needed help. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Duane Merrill Long and Leon Dean Long; his daughter-in-law, Janice Long; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilynn Berggren of Payson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill Long and Anna C. Long-Stephen.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at the Tonto Village Chapel.
