Potluck Dinner Sunday To Benefit Local Family

The potluck benefit for Jody Johnson is from 2:30 p.m. until the food runs out, at the Black Bear Restaurant this Sunday, Feb. 8. There will be a raffle with many good prizes being donated by local businesses. Food dishes are needed. Also, businesses are invited to donate prizes and gift certificates. This is for a great cause and it should be fun. Come and bring the whole family.

Tax forms for both state and federal taxes are available at the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library in Pine. There is a good selection of forms and instructions. Stop by soon while the supply is good.

Mogollon Rim Drought Conditions Concerned Citizens group will hike weekly to Dripping Springs for meditation on water needs. The new group will be limited to 12. Suggestions for scheduling are welcome.

Book discussion

Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library will have its quarterly book discussion at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 at the library. The book selection is "Nectar in a Sieve" by Kamala Markandaya. The discussion is led by Kathleen Alexander-Young. Extra copies of this book are available at the library. Start reading today.

The Pine Strawberry computer users group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 17 in the senior dining room at the Pine Community Center.

Old Time Fiddlers Jam Session is at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18 in the Cultural Hall at the Pine Community Center. Join the fun. No admission charge.

Celebrate Mardi Gras with the Strawberry's Elite from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Black Bear in Strawberry. A $10 donation buys you Jambalaya, Chicken Mamou and Red Beans and Rice as well as lots of fun. Trouble in Paradise will entertain. All proceeds directly benefit children and families of Pine and Strawberry.

There is still time to get your favorite recipes into the new cookbook being prepared by the Pine Strawberry Historical Society. Drop your recipes off at the museum in Pine or mail them, with your name and address, to P.O. Box 564, Pine, AZ 85544.
