If there is enough interest, the Gila County Sheriff's Office will be putting on a Citizens Academy slated to begin in March, GCSO Lt. Adam Shepherd said.
"It will be similar to the academy the Payson Police Department puts on, but for county residents," Shepherd said. "We'll talk about things like the makeup of the sheriff's office, operations, criminal investigations, and at the end we'll have a range day and people will be able to shoot a gun and maybe drive a cop car."
Shepherd said the academy will be held one night a week and will probably begin in the first week or two of March.
"If people are interested, we are requesting that they send us their name, address and phone number," Shepherd said.
