Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I hope everyone remembers that special someone in your life. This is the day to show them how you feel about them. Send them flowers. Buy them chocolates, or maybe a stuffed animal. Many will cook dinner for that special someone and many will go out to eat. Whatever you do have a Happy Valentine's Day.

The Landmark in Christopher Creek is having a Valentine's Day Dinner and Wine Tasting Saturday, Feb. 14. It will be a four course meal at $65 per couple, and reservations are recommended. Music will be provided by John Marksberry.

Creekside Steakhouse will have a special seafood platter for two, with half a carafe of wine for $45 per couple. The regular menu will also be available.

Casting call

Don't forget the casting call for the 2004 Christopher Creek melodrama, "Pleasant Sally War." Auditions will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christopher Creek.

Whatever you know how to do, they can use your help. Invest a little time and reap big memories.

Call (928) 468-7416, or just show up at the auditions. There will be plenty of parts, both large and small to play.

Fire board meeting

At Monday night's fire board meeting, Lew Levenson, executive director for RPAP -- Regional Payson Area Project, had a briefing for the purpose to develop more effective coordination among fire districts cooperating with the RPAP, as coordinated through the Arizona Partnership for Forest Health. For those of you not familiar with RPAP, it is the organization in charge of the brush pit. RPAP also has given our fire department two chain saws for residents to use to clear their property. If you would like to use one, you can go down to Station 51 and sign a disclaimer. You will be showed how to use it and the department will want to see what you will be cutting. Levenson said it would be helpful if we had a Red Cross volunteer in our area. If you are interested and can attend some training sessions, give Levenson a call at (928) 472-7175.

RPAP meets monthly at Gila Community College. Give Levenson a call for more details.

Hashknife event

In appreciation of the Hashknife Pony Express Riders there will be a special celebration Feb. 21 at Creekside Steakhouse. There will be a barbecue, entertainment by Jinx Pyle, and pictures will be taken with the riders. The festivities begin at 1 p.m.
