R. Blaine "Mac" McCoy, 86, died Dec. 31, 2003 in Tucson. He was born June 2, 1917 in Akron, Ohio.
Mr. McCoy was a graduate of Indiana University in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in business. Soon after graduation, he was appointed Second Lieutenant, Infantry in the Army of the United States, following service he pursued his career in retail management.
He and his wife, Sally married in August 1943 and made Tucson their home from 1961 to 1981.
They retired to Payson in 1981 and became very involved in their community. He actively participated in his homeowner association at East Park Estates serving on the board and the Payson Lions Club as past president, Sight and Hearing chairman and recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow for dedication with Humanitarian Services.
In addition, he was named Elk of the Year by the Payson Elks club in 1983 and received the United Blood Service community service award for his service as blood drive chairman.
His quick wit and sense of humor will be remembered.
He is survived by daughter, Judith A. Parker and son-in-law, John F. Parker of Tucson; daughter, Kathy B. Pierce and son-in-law, Bobbie Pierce of Tucson; son, James D. McCoy and daughter-in-law, Cindy McCoy of Tucson; daughter, Linda M. Garrett of New Mexico; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally, and his granddaughter, Cathy.
