Q: Don't the regulations on blasting require notice be given beforehand. The other day, out in Star Valley, they blasted near both the Spur Bar and Phil White Ford, there was no notice and it scared a lot of people.
A: Administrative Assistant Angie Lecher at the Diamond Star Fire District said the state only requires certified explosives experts to notify the local fire department when they are going to be blasting. Notice was given to the fire department by the certified blasting company. Some took place in December and most recently Jan. 7.
