Naming History Park On Council's Agenda

Issues before the Payson town council Thursday include two liquor license applications -- one filed by the new Mexican restaurant, Fiesta Mexicana, and the other by the Majestic Mountain Inn.

A mistake in the town code regarding the number of days before ordinances go into effect prompted the creation of another ordinance that reiterates the 30 days unless the ordinance is passed with an emergency clause.

Town Manager Fred Carpenter will ask the council to approve a name for the Main Street History Park. "Deming Pioneer Park" has been chosen to honor one of Payson's oldest families and town meteorologist, Anna Mae Deming.

Carpenter will also request the council take no action with regard to the proposed resolution on forest health. Councilors have stated they wish to wait until the budget process to allocate funds for the forest health initiative.

Council meetings begin at 6 p.m. at Payson Town Hall.
