Orville Stufflebeam, 84, of Payson, died Jan. 6, 2004. He was born April 12, 1919 in Patrick, Ark.
Mr. Stufflebeam lived in Stilwell, Okla. as a youth. He spent a few years in the U.S. Navy in the 1940s.
Mr. Stufflebeam moved to Arizona from California 55 years ago. While living in Phoenix, he was very instrumental in the development of vehicle air conditioning.
He met his wife, Lila, in 1963, and the family moved to the Payson area in 1967. He owned Orville's Refrigeration until his retirement.
Mr. Stufflebeam loved to bowl and won several national titles in his age group. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting deer and elk.
He is survived by his son, John C. Stufflebeam of Phoenix; daughters, Joan Valichnac of Show Low, Ann Knutson and Judee Robinson, both of Sisters, Ore.; brothers, George (Dorothy) Stufflebeam of Tahlequah, Okla.; Dorman "Chub" (Pat) Stufflebeam of Bullhead City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila.
No funeral service is planned.
