Local Family Loses Home To Fire

Tonto Village Fire Department, along with Christopher/Kohl's Fire Department and the Whispering Pines Fire Department, responded to a structure firethis past Saturday night at the Long Ranch in the Mead Ranch area.

The home, owned by Mike and Brenda Kirkpatrick, was burned to the ground. Nothing could be saved, but luckily, no one was hurt.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blaze.

The Tonto Village Fire Districtnd its fire board were very busy this past weekend.

The fire board-onsisting of the Chairman, Irv Bossert, Erich Kirckhoefer, Lorraine Mathews, Fire Chief, J.R. Alliger and his wife, Gloria, and the district's mechanic, Red Kennedy --ttended the Arizona Fire District Association Conference in Laughlin Jan. 16 to 18.

The board attended governance and administration workshops.

"There was an abundance of information given to us to take back with us in aiding our own fire board in administration and legal matters," Bossert said.

The monthly Tonto Village Fire Board meeting is at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24 at the fire station. Please be sure to attend this important meeting. It is always open to the public.

Casting, casting ...

A casting call has been set for Saturday, eb. 21forthe community-wide melodrama. The melodrama takes place in June at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christopher Creek.

All manner of help is needed, not just actors on stage. A list of other people include a fiddler, a quartet, choreographer, director's assistant, costume designer, seamstress, scenery design, painters, cameramen, prompters, programs, advertising, hair and make-up.

If you would like to be a part of the fun and have been just slightly bitten by the acting bug, see you there.

Nemo is lost ... help to find him

The monthly movie at the Tonto Village Chapel is at 6 p.m., Jan. 23. This Friday, we'll be watching "Finding Nemo."

Popcorn and beverages are provided. Come and help find Nemo, it should be a fun evening. See you there.

Birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Grace Daniels adds another candle to her birthday cake on Jan. 28. Grace lives in Tonto Village III, but used to live in Whispering Pines. She is a quiltmaker extraordinaire, and is a sometimes pool player, and an avid dominoes player, besides a great sewer.

Wow, does Grace have enough time to celebrate her big day?

All of us who know her, let's make sure she has a great day.

Chalk dust a flying

Sunday play got under way again , but the men did not stand a chance to win against Phyllis Mullen, Betty Koutz, and Ethel Cain.

They were good enough to beat out the men that were playing, so get going guys, chalk up those cue sticks and give the gals some competition.
