Grateful for wonderful young people

Editor:
As the town of Payson expresses its thanks to all the firefighters who risk their lives to protect us, I'd like to add a special thanks to a group called the Navajo Scouts #12 from Mountainair, N.M.
Recently, our fire department identified our neighborhood, Wildwood, as an extreme fire hazard. We had a man do a great deal of thinning around our property, but we were worried about the arroyo across the street.
On the morning of July 4, the Navajo Scouts #11 and #12 arrived and, for the next seven hours, they worked extremely hard clearing brush to protect my home and my neighborhood. My wife, Carolee, baked cookies which we gave to the scouts. Today, we received a card thanking her for providing treats for the crew.
"We love our job and enjoy helping your community."
How fortunate we, the citizens of Payson, are to have been helped by so many wonderful young people ... and a few older folks as well.

Question of the week
What is the most important issue in Payson? The economic state of the schools, or the economic state of the county?
