A fellow minister told me this powerful story:
Mike Mathes, a well-known prison ministry leader attended a presentation of the Muslim faith by the Islamic Imam (which was impressive). After the presentation, in a question and answer session, Rick asked: "Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that is true, can you give me a definition of an infidel?"
Without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers."
Mike responded, "So then, all followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith, so they can go to heaven. Is that correct?"
He sheepishly replied, "Yes."
Mike then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul, or Pat Robertson, or Dr. Stanley ordering their followers to do the same."
The Imam was speechless. Mike continued, "I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and he wants you to be with us?"
You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head. Session over.
Christians, and Americans, are much too naive and curious about other gods and religions, in my opinion. They want to know more about the Muslim, Hindu, Shinto, Buddhist and many other religions and beliefs. God says in Joshua 23:7, and in many other passages, "Neither make mention of the name of their gods..." And, "They (Ephraina, which is America and England) are like a silly dove; they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria (Iraq)" Hosea 7:11.
