CHRISTOPHER CREEK

It rained, and it came down really hard Tuesday afternoon in Christopher Creek. Both Christopher Creek and Hunter Creek were running fast.

Because of the recent arrival of the monsoons in the Rim country, campfires and smoking restrictions have been lifted. Those of us who live here urge you to still be very careful with fires and make sure they are completely out before you leave.

Tuesday's storm dropped enough water to fill all the creeks in Christopher Creek.

Aug. 20, the Fire Belles will hold a bake sale in conjunction with the Tonto Village Fire Auxiliary. Help and baked goods are needed. The Fire Belles also will be in charge of the silent auction. Donations are needed for the silent auction and help is needed to man the booth during that time. All proceeds go to the Fire belles and the EMS account.

For more information, contact Sandy Kalmar at (928) 478-4519.

The kids go back to school this week. Please watch out for the school busses and be sure and slow down near the schools.

Don't forget Bingo at 7 p.m., every Saturday, at the fire station. Come out and meet your neighbors. Maybe you will get lucky and win.

The 25th anniversary of the Flatlanders Party will be Sept. 14. They will be making T-shirts for this event. If you'd like to order one, you will need to sign the sheet at the Landmark so they know how many to make. Cutoff date is Aug. 15, and they are $12 each.
