Craig Triphahn became manager at the Sawmill Theatres on July 4. Formerly in restaurant management, his love of movies made him jump at the chance to run Payson's multiplex.

"I have a restaurant management background, so it was not that much of a jump," Triphahn said. He was not a complete novice when he took over at Sawmill Theatres. He did a one-year stint as assistant manager of the old Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff several years ago.

Don't look for many changes at Payson's multiplex. Triphahn said he will keep the show times the same, but he might bring in some different concessions.

"Right now all we have is candy. We're looking at cashews and that sort of thing," he said.

He has made his home in the Rim country for 11 years. Triphahn and his wife, Teresa, have a son, Nicholas, who is 2-1/2.

Sawmill Theatres has matinees starting at 1 p.m., with ticket sales starting at 12:30 p.m. A matinee ticket is $4, while regular showings cost $7 for those 12 and older and $5 for those under 12 and senior citizens. For information about what is showing and times, call (928) 468-7535.
