In a nation where more than one million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year, survivors of the disease, their families, friends and other supporters in the Rim country are invited to celebrate life.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is this weekend. The 2004 Relay For Life is at Rumsey Park June 4, 2004. With the theme of hope setting the pace, a special Survivors' Lap is at 6 p.m. This emotional lap honors the courage of all who have defeated cancer. Each survivor --nyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer --s introduced, and then, all walk or wheelchair the opening lap.
The Relay For Life is a unique fundraising event in which teams of participants take turns walking the track overnight in an effort to fight cancer. Teams camp out, eat and play games.
Cancer survivors who would like to take part in the Relay For Life, or anyone who wants to buy a luminaria that lines the track that will be walked during the 12 hours of the relay, can call Payson's chair Donnalyn Williams (928) 970-0910.
