Hope Adeline Fye, 72, a native Arizonan, died May 28, 2004. She was born Jan. 11, 1932 to Joe Chapman and Icyphine Chapman Winningham in Coolidge.
She resided in Strawberry with her husband and best friend, William R. Fye, since 1975.
She was crowned "Miss Casa Grande of 1949" and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1950.
Mrs. Fye attended nursing school at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix and was a member of the Hoemako Hospital Auxiliary Board. She was an active member of Cottons Wives Club of Casa Grande, and did fashion modeling on numerous occasions.
Until the onset of crippling rheumatoid arthritis in 1964, she was an avid golfer, tennis player and Nascar fan.
She is survived by her husband, William R. Fye; mother, Icyphine Chapman Winningham of Casa Grande; daughters, Stephanie Borrero of Sacramento, Calif. and Susan Turner of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson and Chad Robinson of Sacramento, Calif.; great-grandchild, Cooper Charles Robinson of Sacramento, Calif.; aunt, Hazel Murray of Cove, Ark.; nephews, Larry Spires of Scottsdale, John Spires of Norfolk, Va., Kirk Spires and Mark Spires. Other survivors include Marilyn Helton of Modesto, Calif., Susan Calvert of Phoenix, Pat Grogg of Casa Grande, Connie Tate of Lakeside, Jill Fye of Cliffside Park, N.J. and William R. Fye Jr. of Mesa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Chapman, sister, Barbara Chapman Hutchins; and previous husband, Aulton S. Harris.
Services will be private.
