Fletcher's Tire and Auto Service came to Payson more than five years ago.
The business has been so successful that the parking lot was overflowing.
"We ran out of parking," said Jason Crary, store manager.
To combat the problem of limited parking, Fletcher's opened a second shop at the reason for the shops expansion to a new site at 104 W. Airport Road, in addition to the original shop at 802 E. Highway 260.
"We purchased the new property to better serve the clientele," Crary said.
The new shop opened May 1 and in that short period of time, "We've seen more new customers here in a month than in probably a year at the other site," Crary said. "We more than doubled our employee base."
Before, Fletcher's employed five people; now there are 12 on the payroll.
Changes at other auto service businesses helped bring the new employees to Fletcher's, Crary said.
All 12 are ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified. Between them, the 12 employees have more than 150 years of experience working on vehicles.
"It's been extremely exciting coming into a new facility," Crary said. "We bought the property on April 8 and opened on May 1 and I had a vacation in between, so there were some extremely long hours getting the shop ready."
The shop opened with all new equipment, most of it state-of-the-art that cannot be found anywhere else in the Rim country, Crary said.
Fletcher's is owned by Jerry Fletcher of Phoenix and Payson -- he has a home in Chaparral Pines, Crary said. The company has been in business for almost 40 years and there are 30 Fletcher's stores around the state.
Fletcher's Tire & Auto Service of Payson is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.
