Monday's Flag Day celebration kicks off with a parade that begins at Wal-Mart and ends at Green Valley Park where a ceremony will pay tribute to the country's favorite symbol of freedom.
The local Elks club organized the event, which is the first public Flag Day ceremony in Payson.
Local singer Peggy Tepolt will perform patriotic songs as people gather at the park to honor the American flag.
U.S. veteran and RTA Hospice chaplain, Pastor Len Richie, will begin the ceremony with an invocation. Dee Strickland Johnson, also known as Rim country's favorite cowboy poet, Buckshot Dot, will perform the national anthem.
Elks member, Dwayne Cunningham will present the ritual for Flag Day and Mary Goddard will narrate the folding of the flag with assistance from local Boy Scout troops.
