This is it, the big weekend in Pine and Strawberry with the Strawberry Festival and the Strawberry Patchers' quilt show. There will be enough going on to keep us all running both days.
The Strawberry Patchers' quilt show is in the Cultural Hall at the Community Center in Pine. Beautiful quilts for you to admire and some to buy as well. They also have craft items for sale.
The Opportunity Quilt will be on display. This beautiful quilt is the combined effort of the members of this quilting group. The money raised from raffle tickets is used to buy material and supplies for the quilts they make and give to the Department of Public Safety for children in trauma situations. It is a great cause.
The Kiwanis Rummage sale is Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. under the ramada at the Pine Community Center. The last word was that they have tons of great stuff. Don't miss this one. The proceeds all go to help local children.
The Strawberry Festival will have a record 100 art and craft and food booths throughout "downtown" Strawberry. The variety of crafts is amazing. Be sure to check out every one.
The Strawberry Jam Music Fest will highlight John Carpino beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the Top Cats from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Johnny Cash will be on stage at 10 a.m. and the Renegades will perform at 2 p.m. In between these scheduled performances, there will be on-going jamming so bring your instruments and join in or just sit and enjoy. Bring a chair if you can.
The Strawberry Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shuttle busses are available to bring visitors up from Pine since parking is limited. Look for the information booth on the south end of Pine and the shuttle signs. There will be a limited number of handicapped parking spaces available in Strawberry.
The Strawberry Schoolhouse will have a gathering of living historians, the Spencer and Jackson Traveling Tent show will have performances at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
