Rosendo R. Casillas, Jr., 58, died at his Payson residence on Thursday, June 3, 2004. He was born in Oracle Feb. 21, 1946.
Mr. Casillas worked as a diesel mechanic with heavy equipment, his latest employment being at the golf course. Mr. Casillas was an avid golfer as well, and belonged to the P.G.A. and Partners Club. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lopez Casillas; son, Pedro M. of Kentucky; four daughters: Ester Casillas of Tucson, Susanna Ingles of Oregon, Cristina (Dominic) M. Lopez and Aileen E. (Lauro) Casillas, each of Payson; four brothers: Ramon D. and Tomas L. of Mammoth, Isidro I. and Felix G., both of Oracle; seven sisters: Minnie Lopez of Safford, Anita Casillas Moreno and Berta Henneman of Oracle, Clara Salas of Mammoth, Guadalupe Altamirano, Josephine Casillas and Lenore Cuitard, all of Oracle. There are five grandchildren.
Services were held June 7 at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Oracle. A U.S. Marine detachment performed the flag ceremony outside the church after services.
