Gearldeene Tallant Ritchie, 75, died June 17, 2004. She was born July 19, 1928 in Chillicothe, Texas.
She moved to Young, Ariz. with her parents, Earnest and Cleora Tallant, in the 1930s.
She graduated from Young High School in 1946. She married Howard Wade Ritchie, June 6, 1948 in Phoenix. She was called "Jerry" by her friends, and her family called her "Dean."
Mrs. Ritchie retired from the Arizona Game and Fish Department in 1990. She loved to quilt, sew, cook, go fishing, and be with her family. She was Guardian of Jobs Daughters, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and member of Order of Eastern Star. On June 16, 2004, she received her 50-year membership award from the Order of Eastern Star. She also was secretary of the 456th AAA Battalion Military Reunion WWII for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; two daughters, Jeannie Rogers and Bonny Gazinski, both of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Fisher, Keith Richard Rogers and Eric Wade Rogers, all of Phoenix; three sisters, Sammye Ruth Myers of Phoenix, Christine Kumpe of Queen Creek and Betty L. Packard of Kingman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held June 20, and funeral services were held June 21 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary in Phoenix. There was a graveside service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
