Cynthia Jane Nolan-Vela, 49, of Payson, died June 21, 2004 in Phoenix. She was born April 20, 1955 in Edina, Minn.
She was an Olympic swimmer and diver.
Mrs. Nolan-Vela moved to Arizona in 1974 where she met and married Ray Vela. She moved to Payson in 1998, where she resided until her death.
She is survived by her husband, Ray S. Vela; sons, Randy D. Vela, Joseph (Teelah) Vela and Johnny (Anna) Vela; stepson, Ronnie (Mary) Vela; daughter, Maggie Vela; grandchildren, Jeremiah M. Hamm-Vela, Skylar R. Vela, Sierra R. Vela, Lilli P. Vela, Ronnie R. Vela Jr., Eddie Vela and Elianna Vela; brothers, Patrick (Judy) Nolan and Jack (Colette) Nolan; sisters, Nancy (Rich) Kurtz and Jory (John) Contreras; several nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian (Honey) Nolan; cousin, Ann Theisen; and daughter, Melissa.
Visitation and services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 27 at the Messinger Fountain Hills Funeral Home with reception to follow.
