Mortgage consultant Loura Beltran and branch manager Laura Hartnell are ready to welcome would-be home buyers to Pacific Coast Mortgage, 1107 S. Beeline Highway, Suite 5.

She said PCM has a variety of loan products suited to special circumstances that might make other mortgage companies turn away a client.

"For instance, we still do mortgages on manufactured homes," Hartnell said. "We do the normal stuff, but we can work outside of the box as well."

And even if a client can't be connected with a product on their first visit, Hartnell said she and her staff, mortgage consultants Loura Beltran and Diane Dalgai, will work with a person until they are able to qualify.

"We help them make sure their credit report is accurate and advise them of what they need to do to correct any discrepancies," Hartnell said.

Pacific Coast Mortgage was established in 1994 in Bullhead City. It expanded into the Phoenix area in 1996, opening a branch office in Glendale and moving the corporate office to Phoenix.

Since then the company has grown to more than 40 branches throughout Arizona and is also currently licensed in New Mexico and Nevada. "It's one of the biggest mortgage companies in the state," Hartnell said.

Business has been good in the new Payson branch, Dalgai has just been hired to help Hartnell and Beltran with the workload.

"I think (it's) just the fact we help a lot of people who have not been able to obtain a home loan," Hartnell said. "We're willing to work with them and do the little things it takes to get the loan closed."

And while business is good for PCM in Payson, Hartnell said she does not want the operation to get too big. "We like having close relationships with our clients," she said. "Referrals are critical. Most of the business we've had has come from word-of-mouth."

Hartnell has been in the Payson area for about four years, coming from Flagstaff. She has been in the mortgage business for five years. She connected with PCM when she was selling her home in Heber. The company handled her buyer's financing and she learned it was interested in coming into the Rim country. She was interested in moving into branch management, so the deal was made and the Payson branch of Pacific Coast Mortgage was opened at 1107 S. Beeline Highway, Suite 5.
