Randalls Net Second Place At Roosevelt

FISH & TIPS

Local team partners Buddy and Jake Randall finished second in last week's Wonbass team tournament on Roosevelt. The pair weighed in a five-fish limit of bass over the 16-inch slot limit for a little more than 12 pounds. Even more impressive was that most of them were smallmouth bass.

Their success came by targeting prespawn bass on shallow breaks and secondary points with a number of soft plastics. Their biggest bass had shown itself when it missed Buddy's offering during a practice trip on the Thursday before the tournament. When they returned to the spot Saturday, the bass bit on Jake's first cast.

There were only two limits of "overs" weighed in during the tournament and the Randall brothers' limit barely missed the 13-pound leaders.

Lake Reports

Various shad patterns and crawdad crankbaits are working particularly well around isolated boulders and rocky flats.
