Parker G. Sutton, Jr.


Parker George Sutton, Jr., 85, of Payson, died March 11, 2004. He was born Nov. 9, 1918 in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Mr. Sutton was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, SAE Fraternity, and president of Williams' Hospital Board. He was a businessman in Williams, Flagstaff, Kingman and Phoenix. He was a business partner of Haining Lumber in Williams and Comco Public Relations Firm in Phoenix and owned service stations, motels, and restaurants in Flagstaff, Williams and Kingman.

He was a radio announcer and writer for KTAR in Phoenix and KYCA in Prescott.

He is survived by daughters, Claudia Inman of Flagstaff, Sherry Bene Stevens of Long Beach, Calif. and Bettie Neel of Phoenix; sons, Parker Sutton, III, of San Dimas, Calif., Charles Bene of Flagstaff and Greg Bene of Mesa; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sutton was preceded in death, July 23, 2001, by his wife, Margie Sutton; sons, Carver Sutton and Robert Bene; and daughter, Carol Lee Bene.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero; and a visitation at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19 at Williams United Community Methodist Church in Williams, followed at 2 p.m. by interment at Williams Cemetery.
