Donelda Emma Vowles, 63, of Payson, died at her home March 13, 2004, following a short but valiant fight against breast cancer. She was born Jan. 18, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Mortimer and Hazel Peterson Lent.
She was employed at the Albany area hospital for many years, and later moved to Mesa, where she was employed as a nurse in CVOR at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. She retired to Payson and spent summers at Big Birch Lake near Grey Eagle, Minn., and worked in home health care and at the St. Cloud Minn. Hospital. She was a member of First Lutheran Church at Sauk Centre, Minn., and an associate member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Mesa. Her loves were her grandchildren and her two Pomeranian dogs (Buddy and Charlee). She enjoyed vegetable gardening and getting her fingers in soil.
She is survived by two children, Ann Marie Vowles of Payson and William "Rocky" (Dawn) Vowles of Albany, Minn.; stepdaughter, Rona Lee (Shane) Davis of Sonoma, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Jack, Jasie, Zach, Josh and Lindsey; sisters and brothers, Barbara (Tom) Bebb of Mesa, Dorothy (Bob) Schultz of Charlotte, S.C., Maurita (John) Strait of Payson, Donavon (Kit) Lent of Mesa and John (Diane) Lent of Mesa.
Pallbearers include Thomas D. Bebb, John Bebb, Brian Ellenburg, Robert L. Kuehne II, Math Lent, Cameron Lent, and honorary pallbearer, Michelé Balzano.
Final service is to be held at First Lutheran Church, Sauk Centre, Minn., with interment at Lake View Cemetery.
