Ira Eugene Eastman, 56, of Payson, died sometime between March 15 and March 17, 2004. He was born May 7, 1947 in Raymond, Wash.
Mr. Eastman lived in Prairie City, Ore. for several years while he was young. He then moved to Newport, Ore. where he grew up and stayed for many years.
Mr. Eastman had five years of college -- one year at Gray's Harbour College, plus four years at Oregon State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in zoology. After college, he returned to Newport, Ore. and became a journeyman carpenter.
In 1988, on Halloween night, Ira married Peggy Tepolt at the lumberyard where they were both working.
In 1992, Ira and Peggy moved to Payson where he worked first for Lumbermen's and then for Foxworth-Galbraith.
In 2002, he, his wife, and a partner, started a business called Cabinets, Doors & Dreams, where he worked until the time of his death.
Mr. Eastman was well-known for his knowledge, intelligence, patience and gentleness.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Tepolt Eastman; a son from his first marriage, Micah Eastman; a daughter, also from his first marriage, Kateri Eastman; two stepsons, Torsten Tepolt and Reuben Wallace; parents, Ben and Barbara Eastman of Newport, Ore.; three brothers, Bob, Will and Mike Eastman, all of Oregon; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who ever came in contact with this gentle soul.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Holy Nativity Church on Bradley and Easy Street.
