The original versions of the Payson High School track and field schedules have undergone some recent revisions.
Among the changes is a meet slated for March 24. On the first schedules released by PHS, there was no location or opponent listed for that date.
According to head coach Chuck Hardt both the boys and girls team will travel that day to newly built Sandra Day O'Connor High School in northwest Phoenix. Also participating will be North, Thunderbird and Estrella Foothills. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
Also, a meet slated for April 2 at Willow Canyon generated some questions from fans and readers. Willow Canyon is a first-year school in the Dysart School District near Phoenix.
"The meet is the old Dysart or Demon relays," Hardt said.
The start time will be announced in the next two weeks.
The freshmen/sophomore invitational slated for PHS track April 24 is the newest version of the former Payson Invitational. Scheduled to participate along with the Longhorns are Page, Flagstaff, Coconino, Mingus and Coronado. The competition begins at 9 a.m.
Original schedules indicated only Page will be participating in the Payson Relays April 30. Hardt expects more teams to enter but has not yet received confirmation. Start time will be announced next week.
The Grand Canyon regional championships will be held May 7 and 8 at Payson High.
Class 4A state competition will be held May 13 to 15 at Mesa Community College.
The Horns will make their home debut at 3 p.m. March 30 in a three-way meet with Flagstaff, Sinagua and Snowflake.
