The Citizens for an Adequate Water Supply is holding a public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27. There will be lots of information and people who will respond to questions. This water problem is a concern to all of us. We need to learn all we can from all sides.

Good news

Lots of good things are happening up here in Pine and Strawberry, with new furnaces and air conditioners at the community center and other fix-up work.

The switch to the new automated library system has had its frustrating moments. Do be patient. Very soon all these new and wonderful improvements will be up and running and we will all benefit.

The Children's Story Time is at 10:30 a.m. at Looking Glass Books Saturday. "The Lion King" will be read and discussed and some fun craft project will follow. Although geared for children 3 to 6, all children are invited.

Kiwanis Bingo is canceled for Saturday, March 27. The weekly bingo program will resume at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 3. Also remember that Rim Country Kiwanis is collecting empty printer cartridges. Drop them off at the library.

Linda O'Dell is a candidate for Gila County School Superintendent. You'll have a chance to meet the candidate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., next Saturday, April 3 at the ramada at the Pine Community Center. This will be an opportunity to meet her and to register to vote. It is not often we have a Pine or Strawberry resident running for county office. There are very few elected officials who are from Northern Gila County. Linda and her husband, Ken, live in Pine.

OneBookAZ is a program hosted by libraries and other partners across the state of Arizona. The goal is to bring communities together through reading. The book for 2004 is "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. This is a national bestseller which fascinates and absorbs readers. The discussion date for this book is Tuesday, April 20, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Carol Scott will lead the discussion. Copies of the book are available in the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library.
