D. L. "Corky" Williams, 73, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at his home in Tonto Basin. He was born in Lockney, Texas and lived in the Panhandle until he and his wife, the former Sallee Ann Beaver, moved to Winslow in 1961.
Mr. Williams worked for the Santa Fe Railway in both Texas and Arizona until his retirement to Tonto Basin in 1992.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Winslow and El Zariba Shrine in Phoenix. He enjoyed fishing, quail hunting and was especially proud of his annual pecan crop.
He is survived by his wife, Sallee; sister, Sybil Daniel of San Antonio, Texas; three children from a previous marriage, son, Dennis of Pampa, Texas and daughters, Cheryl Underwood, of Pampa, Texas and Wanda Stubbs of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eura Williams of Canadian, Texas; his brother, Joe, also of Tonto Basin; and stepson, Skip Sawyers of Payson.
Masonic graveside services will be held in Amarillo, Texas at a later date.
