The goal this year is 50. Last year, we broke 30. I'm talking about people bringing their dogs (with leash and plastic bags) to be part of the PAHH 5K Walk/ Run May 15 at Green Valley Park.
What a great way to treat your best friend and yourself with a morning of fun and exercise while helping Payson Area Habitat For Humanity.
A 5K walk is 3.1 miles. This will take Cee Cee the Wonder Dog and me between 55 minutes and 1 hour. Let the serious runners knock themselves out.
We've done this the past 3 years. It's not strenuous at all. After one hour of walking, you'll feel invigorated. All of the 5K Walk/Runs at Green Valley Park are always well organized with plenty of volunteers. There are water stops along the way for both you and your dog.
Just $20 gets you into the event, plus you get a nice commemorative T-shirt and a fantastic pancake breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus.
Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation Office, the Payson Roundup, The Rim Country Chamber of Commerce, Payson Athletic Club and at the PAHH office at 1013 S. Goodfellow Road. Race day registration at Green Valley Park is from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., Saturday, May 15. The race starts at 8 a.m.
So, I'm asking all the people associated with animals --he Payson Humane Society, PAWS In The Park, the newly-formed Rim Country Animal Sanctuary, and those who love (or need) to take a nice walk with their dog(s) --o join Cee Cee and me May 15 at Green Valley Park. You'll enjoy it, and so will your best friend.
