Richard Allen Taylor, last of a pioneer ranching family in Payson, died May 7 at age 97. He was born on the Diamond H Ranch west of Payson April 18, 1907.
As a young man, he started as a cowboy working for area ranchers. Later he bought the Doll Baby Ranch from his father and ran it until he moved his family to Chandler so the children could finish school. He retired from work with the State Highway Department.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Valda May (Beard) and two sons, Richard and John. He is survived by a sister Margaret (Murphy) of Glendale, and three daughters, Fern (Spears), Lois (Bissett) and Patty (Rhodes) and their families.
Graveside services will be at the Pioneer Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004.
