Local teaching pro Diane Jackson is offering tennis buffs the opportunity to tune up their game. For a registration fee of $20 per person, youth and adults of all playing abilities can receive tips from the pros in a series of classes next month.
The lessons will be given Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 1 to 17. Class times for children 6 to 8 years old will be 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., or 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Players 9 to 10 years old will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The 11 a.m. to noon time slot is reserved for children 12 and over.
During Jackson's 16-day teaching stint, the evenings will feature adult lessons. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., she will tutor the beginning players who know little about the nuances of the game. Intermediate adults, or those who have played and have some court skills, will meet 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to the lessons, the recreation department will host drop-in doubles tennis play 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Thursday during the months of June, July and August.
