Payson Police Officer Steve Sachak was recognized by the Gila County Attorney's Office for his superior service in public safety and prosecution of criminals.
Sachak was presented with the award Tuesday during the County Supervisors' meeting in Globe.
Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores and her staff choose a member of the county's law enforcement community each quarter in recognition of their service.
"The county attorney reviews numerous recommendations," Flores said, "but selects the officer who, at that time, best illustrates an exemplary attitude and work ethic."
Flores said Sachak has received accolades from both law enforcement and citizens for his service and courteous manner.
"Many prosecutors who work with him say he is always available, prepared and well informed in court," Flores said.
"His superior work ethic makes the prosecution of adult and juvenile offenders more successful."
Prior to moving to Payson in 2001, Sachak was an officer for seven years in La Paz County and Parker. Sachak also has a degree in business administration, speaks fluent Spanish, is a certified EMT, and teaches DARE on his days off.
According to Flores and her staff, Sachak is dedicated to law enforcement and the residents of Gila County.
