The Pine Poet's Society will gather for the reading of poetry and short prose at Looking Glass Books and Gifts tonight, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. Come prepared to read or just enjoy listening and fun conversation. Everyone is welcome.
Children's Yoga at Looking Glass Books is Saturday, May 22 at 10 a.m. Diane Roeder leads the class which is free, but a tip for the instructor is appreciated. Call 928-476-4771 to register.
An artists' showcase is being held at Gallery 87 on Saturday, May 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. Joe and Maleita Wise will be featured. The medium for both is watercolor, but their art is very different. The Pine Strawberry Food Bank wants to thank the community for all the great help with the food bank. Sharon Balentine, program director, says "We couldn't do this without all your help." Distribution is the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the cultural hall at the Pine Community Center. Anyone interested in helping with the food bank is invited to attend their meeting on Tuesday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. Call 928-476-4355 for more information.
Friday, May 28 is the last day of classes at Pine-Strawberry School. There will be early dismissal at 11 a.m.
The Memorial Weekend Arts and Crafts Festival, sponsored by The Pine-Strawberry Arts and Craft Guild, will be Saturday, May 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Pine Community Center. More than 80 juried crafters will be showing their wares. Wonderful Navajo tacos and soft serve ice cream will be served in the senior dining room along with lots of other food.
The Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. All the pancakes you can eat for $4 for adults and $2 for children, 10 and under. Pancakes are served with sausage, juice and coffee.
The Senior Center Kitchen and Thrift Store are looking for volunteers. The Senior Center Kitchen urgently needs volunteers to help prepare and serve the Navajo tacos and soft serve ice cream during the Arts and Craft Festival over the Memorial Day weekend. Call Cheryl Piazza, 928-476-2151, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to offer your help. Help is also needed on a regular basis at both the senior kitchen and the thrift store.
The Ed Toliver Photo Exhibit will have a grand opening at the Pine-Strawberry Museum on Saturday, May 29, at 9 a.m. This exhibit features photographs of Pine and Strawberry from the past 30 years. Ed is resident of the community and a gifted photographer.
The ribbon cutting and grand opening of the beautiful new Randall Park and the restored Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library will be Saturday, May 29, beginning at 10 a.m. This project is the result of the generosity and combined effort of the Arizona Historical Society, The Pine Strawberry Historical Society, The Randall Family and Take Pride Project. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the shaded picnic tables, donated and installed by Take Pride Project. This group also designed and planted the landscaping and installed the drip system which is manually operated for maximum water conservation.
The Pine Library Friends' used book sale is Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library.

Work is being done to get the buildings at the community center on the National Historic Register. Any picture showing any part of the fireplace would be appreciated. The photo will be returned.
