Lillian Anna Mayer, 81, of Payson, died May 28, 2004. She was born Aug. 4, 1922 in Napoleon, Ohio.
Mrs. Mayer graduated from high school in Napoleon, earned a bachelor's degree from Capital University in Columbus in May 1945, and attended Biblical Seminary in New York City for four months in 1945.
She was a single missionary in India from 1945 to 1955.
She married Rev. Joel H. Mayer, a missionary, on Dec. 10, 1955 in India.
She retired from missionary service in India in July 1991.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of the American Lutheran Church, which merged with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
She is survived by her husband, Joel of Payson; daughters, Joan (Mayer) Campbell and Carol (Mayer) Lee; sons, David Mayer, Paul Mayer and John Mayer; sister, Marie (Lange) Knollman; brothers, Melvin Lange and Arthur Lange; and 12 grandchildren.
