For Chris Phillips, it's not every day that she gets to sit behind the wheel of a fire engine.
But this week, Phillips and other members of Arizona Mentors were able to learn about being a firefighter thanks to the Payson Fire Department A-shift crew of Engine 121.
Arizona Mentors is an organization that provides real work experience and life skills to people with developmental disabilities.
"We're they only organization operating a sheltered workshop in Payson," said Jamie Porter, program manager for Payson Arizona Mentors.
The organization also operates two local group homes.
