In support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation awarded a grant to Time Out, Inc. in Payson to support the shelter's ongoing efforts to help women and children affected by family violence.
"I am thrilled to accept this grant from the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation on behalf of Time Out. Inc.," said Gerry Bailey, executive director.
"Domestic violence is a significant and growing problem, one that affects millions of women and children. This grant will help us continue our work to protect, educate, and care for victims of domestic violence."
Clarice Christensen, independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics, is part of the Time Out team. She provides sessions on skin care and makeup use for the life skills program.
Christensen makes presentations at the shelter every two or three months. The shelter's life skills program, which covers a variety of subjects, is the only one of its kind in Gila County.
"I believe Mrs. Christensen's involvement with us played a part in our receiving the grant," Bailey said.
"Only 100 shelters in the country were honored to receive these grants."
