Mary (Bradley) Newman, 81, died Nov. 21, 2004, surrounded by her family, in the rambling ranch home she established 47 years ago at the base of Mummy Mountain.he was born July 11, 1923 in Manhattan.
Mrs. Newman earned her degree in art history from the College of Notre Dame of Baltimore, Md. She married returning naval aviator J. Kevin Newman Aug. 28, 1948 beside Spring Lake, N.J.rom their home in Darien, Conn., they moved to Arizona in May, 1957.
Shepherding her children among sometimes five schools simultaneously, she was an active and engaged parent at Kiva Elementary School, Scottsdale, for three decades, along with Parent-Teacher Associations of Gerard High School, Saguaro High School, Xavier High School, and Brophy Prep.
Mrs. Newman was an astounding intellect who would enthrall on any subject not trivial.he was the center of the circle of her book review club and her tennis gang.
She embraced all things Arizona, especially the sprawling Sonoran Desert.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin, and her loving children Mary Lemionet, Kevin and Peggy, Bradley, Dennis, Jimmy, Janie, Annie and Craig, John and Tammy.he was a loving and attentive grandmother of six, and will remain "Aunt Mary" to 13 nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucille, and her younger sister, Joan, and brother, Tom.
A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3801 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004
